Two more years and a new era will come: MGUH will cease to exist, the share of electric motor power will increase, and sustainable fuels will appear.
There have been periods of major change where the Mercedes team has captured the situation best. According to James Wolff, the situation is similar now, with Toto Wolff and his team far ahead of the rest of the pack in terms of resources:
"I think Mercedes is doing a really exceptional job. That's why we were very happy to remain their engine partners. From 2026, the resources will be simplified, but the design process has undergone a huge change, everything is happening in the electric world, and it's not only a challenge, but also a huge opportunity. Mercedes has wisely invested in these technologies earlier than anyone else. There are currently no differences between the engines, but that will change soon. True, not to the extent that we have seen since 2014, but there will be. But they will not be so big that they will brutally tear the field apart," said the former Mercedes employee, team principal of Williams.
