We have reached the final race of the 2024 season, which for many meant goodbye, for some a debut and for others winning the world championship title.
The start was interesting, Max Verstappen very agilely drove into Oscar Piastri, and in the process knocked both the Australian and himself down... The situation with another Red Bull was similar, Sergio Perez lost out in the fight with Valtteri Bottas and ended up off the track. Then came the VSC phase, and Piastri ended the race with Franco Colapinto, who had an unlucky crash. In the leading position were Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz and Pierre Gasly, but this situation lasted only until the pit stops.
Due to different strategies we could see the order of Norris, Sainz, Russell, and basically a long series of uninteresting laps. In the meantime Valtteri Bottas had a defect and unfortunately also eliminated Kevin Magnussen. Ironically, Bottas' race, which was doing great all weekend, ended in a disgraceful way... Incidents after the start also did not remain without consequences, Verstappen received a ten-second penalty for "action" against Piastri, while the latter also received the same for the incident with Colapinto.
After Lewis Hamilton returned, who was the last to pit, the screen showed the order of Norris, Sainz, Leclerc. The fronts stabilized, Norris, two Ferraris and two Mercedes, and Verstappen behind them. Only in the upper middle of the pack were there smaller fights, exchanges of overtakes, and in the gray race ending the season, the most interesting were Gasly and Hülkenberg. And then there was the victory of Lando Norris from McLaren, which brought the title of constructors' champion at the last moment, the podium of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc and, of course, the beautiful overtake of Lewis Hamilton in the last lap over George Russell.
