At 44, Alonso doesn't look like he's ready to give up. He's asked almost every weekend how much longer he'll stay. His answer is always the same: a long time, because he's committed.
Alonso could be on track even at the age of 50, which in itself would be an exceptional record in modern Formula 1:
"When I turn 50? I don't know what and how it will be then, so I leave all doors open. This year I definitely wanted to race, next year I want to be on the starting line because of the changing regulation system. I want to try my hand in 2026 and I wanted to wait for Honda to come. Adrian Newey's arrival added a huge plus to the whole situation and made the extension very attractive.
I will always be ready to help my team, no matter what role they need me in. If they want me behind the wheel, I will be there, no matter the age! If I feel motivated and fast enough, there are no obstacles, otherwise I will be the first to raise my hand and say it's over!
It annoys me a little that on Sundays there are not the same results as before, but it does not weaken my motivation and hunger for success. Quite the opposite! I am calm and determined, because this is a transition period from which we can learn a lot. Now we are preparing to stand on the track with dignity one day, when we will have a car with a chance for the championship. And that time will come, when the team is ready, then I will be here," said Fernando Alonso calmly.
