This was stated by the team's director, Mattia Binotto. The team, which will join Formula 1 in 2026, does not intend to wait too long to win the championship by the end of the decade.
It's a tough commitment, but with the factory facilities, this project is not impossible at all:
"We don't have to climb just a mountain, but Mount Everest itself. It will take a few years before we really succeed, but our goal is clear: by the end of the decade we want to be competing for the championship title. Right now the gap is still too big compared to what I saw at Ferrari, I can say that there is a huge gap between us. Infrastructure, numbers, thinking, we have to transform a small team into a large one. Our performance in 2024 is what it is because we are no longer focused on 2024, but on 2026. Our work, our development, all our concentration is directed towards this.
Audi joined Formula 1 to become a competitive member of the grid. That will be the case until we win, but also after that. We are thinking long-term, we want to develop into a winning team and be useful members of the sport. F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport and it is great that Audi has finally got involved," said the Italian expert.
