Gerhard Berger, former Scuderia Ferrari classicist, did not try to take the burden off the shoulders of his former team. Quite the opposite!
Berger believes that as a result of the development in recent years and the arrival of Lewis Hamilton this year, everything has come together for Ferrari to finally emerge from its own shadow. The Austrian believes that this will be THE year it happens:
"This season I would put all my money on Ferrari. I couldn't say whether Lewis Hamilton or Charles Leclerc would be world champion, or whether the drivers or constructors would win - but they will win. They will win the championship! In terms of the engine and the suspension they are extremely strong, probably one of the strongest driver pairs in history, if not the strongest. In addition, in Hamilton, motivation has come to Maranello like you rarely see. He needed new stimuli and I think Ferrari will give him that in the perfect way."

At Mercedes he could occasionally taste victory, and now he finds himself in an environment where everyone is hungry for success. I am sure he will give it his all, but I am afraid it will be very difficult for him to cope with Leclerc's speed. What can help him is his friendship with Frederic Vasseur. I think Hamilton is not just an ordinary driver, but also a leader who will be able to motivate and lead the whole team to victory!” said Gerhard Berger, why he considers the Italians the main favorites in 2025.
