As we reported last week, word was circulating in Las Vegas that Andretti, who had been doomed to rejection until now, could surprisingly find himself on the race grid in 2026.
And now comes the official confirmation that the Formula 1 field is indeed growing! Here are the statements from the parties involved:
"The involvement of General Motors and Cadillac in this project is a very important and positive proof and a step forward for the development of our sport. We look forward to seeing how the project develops and grows, we are sure that everyone will support them," said Stefano Domenicali.
“GM is an incredible global brand with impressive partnerships. I personally fully support the joint efforts of the FIA, Formula 1 and General Motors, and we have already developed an agreement for the team to be present at the start of the 2026 World Championship. The parties are committed and will work together to ensure that this process runs smoothly,” stated Mohammed ben Sulayem.
"The pinnacle of motorsport is F1, and as such it requires constant innovation from everyone who participates in it. It is an honor that GM and Cadillac can join this elite, and we have long been committed to raising our sport, F1, to the next level with passion and integrity. It is a huge global stage, and we can demonstrate GM's engineering expertise and technological leadership at a new level," emphasized Mark Reuss, leader of the Americans.
