South Africa is campaigning hard to get the country back into the Formula 1 bloodstream, and not just on a news level. That’s why the country’s sports minister has set up a committee to select a promoter, with whom the country can submit an application in the next few months.
Apparently, it is not a completely unknown place in F1, Kyalami could be a winner. Gayton McKenzie, the minister responsible for sport, is already preparing for 2027, he believes that by then the conditions for organizing could be realistic:
"The committee that has now been set up will determine the conditions of the application. By the end of February, they must present the government with a proposal for a location that will certainly not bring shame to the country and will organize the best race possible. Which location it will be, we do not know yet, but I would like to add that Kyalami has its history and also has infrastructure. Look at the climate, look at the roads, the possibility of a street race is easy to see. There are investors who are ready to sacrifice for this, so I think everything is in place..." - declared the most important participant in the case.
