Ex-driver: Hamilton will be free at Ferrari

Ex kierowca: Hamilton będzie wolny w Ferrari

Lucas Di Grassi believes Lewis Hamilton is past his peak, which is why if he were Ferrari he wouldn't hire the seven-time world champion.

In some ways, Lewis Hamilton has suffered a lot in 2024, and from that perspective it is no exaggeration to say that he is experiencing the lowest point of his career so far. It was his performance in qualifying, where he was badly beaten by George Russell this year. Lucas di Grassi, who used to race for Renault F1 and later won the Formula E championship, believes that all this is a good indication that Hamilton's time has passed, is expensive and slow, and that someone else should take that seat at Ferrari.

"If I were Ferrari, I would never hire Lewis Hamilton. He's expensive, he's already slow, he's definitely past his peak. Instead, I'd give someone who could really reach the top with the Scuderia a chance.
His already insufficient speed is further compensated by his vast experience, good strategy, great teamwork, the fact that he helps develop the team and the set-up, and better understand their car.

But after a year like this, when Ferrari proved they can develop on their own, I just don't believe they need it. Hamilton is good marketing in the short term, but if they really want to win the world championship, he's not their man anymore," said di Grassi, scathingly criticising the seven-time world champion.
