Unusual news - thank God, this time in a positive context - has reached the news at the world-famous Belgian racetrack.
King Philippe of Belgium has announced that this year the Kingdom of Belgium will introduce a coin that pays tribute to one of the most famous racetracks in the world.
It is common practice in countries using the euro to introduce two new €2 coins with a new design each year. The obverse of these coins commemorates important themes related to the issuing country or Europe.
King Philippe's announcement also stated that the reverse of the "euro Spa-Francorchamps" will feature the outline of the track, on the left side with two numbers: 7004 and 1921. The first symbolizes the current layout of the track, and the second the year of opening, because the first races were held there that year. The coin's (official) design has not yet been presented, but it's worth keeping an eye out: you can get a beautiful Formula 1 souvenir, and for free!
