Sergio Perez's place at Red Bull Racing is under threat, that's nothing new. Every day, names are being floated to replace him, and now Christian Fittipaldi has thrown an interesting proposition into the hat.
Former Formula 1 driver Fittipaldi believes that it could easily happen that the second Red Bull driver, tired of the role of Oscar Piastri, will say goodbye to McLaren at the end of the season and continue his career in Perez's place from 2025:
"As strange as it sounds now, I don't think it's impossible that Oscar Piastri will leave McLaren at the end of the year and join Perez at Red Bull. By then, Piastri might have grown a bit tired of supporting Lando Norris as a second driver and, as a result of a sudden idea, decide to change," Fittipaldi mused.
It may sound crazy, but there are many possibilities. One is that Piastri could sit in the best car on the grid and compare himself to the best driver in the championship. Red Bull would gain a great driver, while seriously weakening their main rival, the McLaren team. It's an intriguing proposition!
