From a European perspective, we saw nothing surprising in the sprint race of the Chinese Grand Prix, which started in a not-so-friendly time slot. However, it was definitely a historic event!
Lewis Hamilton started perfectly and the whole field also started without any problems. Shortly afterwards, Lando Norris, who was in third place, risked being too bold and dropped all the way to ninth place. Yuki Tsunoda felt the rhythm better and was already running in sixth position on the third lap - probably not only for valuable points, but also a bit for a place in Red Bull Racing... In the meantime, Liam Lawson was modestly in 18th place after a controversial overtake. In the leading position, Hamilton maintained a one-second advantage over Max Verstappen, but around the eighth lap the Dutch driver closed in on him. Ultimately, nothing came of the action, so much so that Verstappen had to watch out for Oscar Piastri, who was approaching from behind. At this point, the fronts stabilized, we practically just watched the "train" on the track. Eventually, Piastri overtook Verstappen, but he had neither time nor tires to attack Hamilton. The Briton thus won his first sprint race and took victory for Scuderia Ferrari ahead of Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen.
