The special stage continued with the Mexican Grand Prix, in the second stage the grid could test Pirelli compounds for 2025. Red flags could not be avoided this time either, this time George Russell crashed the Mercedes.
The practice session had barely started when Russell lost control of his car exiting a corner and had a serious accident. At that time, we had no idea that this would be the "most interesting" moment of the training, nor that we would have to worry about Russell's health, who was feeling pain in his ribs. That's exactly what happened, and alongside it, the Pirelli tire test was monotonously, boringly and quietly going on, with drivers using unmarked tires. So we didn't really know who was using which compound, at most we could infer it based on the lap times. Only towards the end of the session did a few medium tires appear here and there, only those who didn't take part in FP1 could do that, but it didn't change the overall picture. In the end, FP2 was won by Carlos Sainz ahead of Oscar Piastri and Yuki Tsunoda, but today we didn't learn anything new about the balance of power.
