Lewis Hamilton denies spinning due to driver error on the first lap of the US Grand Prix, with the seven-time world champion attributing his retirement to a technical failure.
After the race, Hamilton went all out and demanded a more serious overhaul from the team. Not only was the development not working, but the car was even worse than before the four-week break:
"In the first practice session I had a similar situation when I spun at Turn 3. It's very rare, I've never spun at this track. You can see George Russell had problems with it on Saturday too, but he's back to the earlier specification, so it could be the problem with the new development package. The car is constantly bouncing, so if I don't spun at Turn 3 it will happen at another corner or another time. There was something wrong with the car, I was suffering all weekend. I've never spun in a race in my life. It wasn't because of a lack of concentration, it was because the technique wasn't working. It's depressing, but that's the way it is, I'd rather focus on getting back behind the wheel on Friday," Hamilton rued.
