Fascinating moments await us during the F1 race weekend, especially from a Japanese perspective. Namely, local fans will be able to see more than just Yuki Tsunoda on track.
Another young driver will also get his chance, with Toyota WEC driver Ryo Hirakawa set to drive the 2025 Alpine. Hirakawa will replace Jack Doohan at the FP1 Japanese Grand Prix, and will be no stranger to driving a Formula 1 car, having already gained experience in Oscar Piastri’s McLaren in Abu Dhabi last year.
"I'm incredibly excited and can't wait to drive the A525 in the first practice session of the Japanese Grand Prix. 18 years ago, in 2007, I watched the Japanese Grand Prix in Fujima, and now I'll soon experience first-hand what it's like to drive in front of my passionate compatriots. It'll be a dream come true, I can't wait!" said Hirakawa.
