While we didn't see much chance of that a few months ago, it now looks increasingly likely that Sergio Perez's Formula 1 career is not over, but merely on hold.
It is clear that if there is a driver opportunity anywhere, it is in the upcoming Cadillac team, which is still waiting for official approval from FOM and FIA. However, in the background, work is ongoing at all levels, 2026 is very close and, as we know, no racing car runs without a driver. On this basis, Sergio Perez appears, who is reportedly not idle and is in advanced negotiations with the Andretti team. The Americans, as new players, are certainly focusing on experience, which leads to a collaboration with Ferrari on engines, before General Motors takes over the field and the team in 2028. For Cadillac, the American influence is important, they are thinking locally not only in terms of name but also financial support and the identity of the drivers.

The Andretti family will have a major role in selecting the driver line-up, and it is known that the Perezes have a good relationship with them. Therefore, it is not a big risk for anyone to put more money on the driver duo of Sergio Perez and Colton Herta, who enjoy huge popularity in the United States.
