Qualifying for the Las Vegas Grand Prix will take place soon, and Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes could be one of the favorites.
This means that we in the editorial office are tipping him as one of the favourites, but his former team-mate and world champion has a completely different opinion on the subject. Jenson Button believes that Hamilton is simply too old and too slow for qualifying! This is a drastic statement, but not without basis. So far, only one person, and only once, has managed to beat the seven-time world champion in the qualifying classification, and that was Nico Rosberg. In 2014, the classification was 12-7 in Rosberg's favour, but this season Hamilton, who will drive for Ferrari next year, has been getting a much worse beating from George Russell:
"Lewis is almost 40, maybe that's why he fell in qualifying. No matter how high he looks, how good his reflexes are, he can no longer compete with the younger ones. He's too old for that, he can't keep up with them on one lap, and it's probably very difficult for him to accept that his rivals are not only faster, fresher, but also more consistent," Button commented brutally on his former rival.
Has he really aged? We'll soon find out if that's true...
