Schumacher: Hamilton's career could be destroyed by Ferrari

Schumacher: "Kariera Hamiltona może zostać zniszczona przez Ferrari"

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

The Bahrain tests clearly showed that Charles Leclerc was better than Lewis Hamilton in every aspect. Dr. Helmut Marko believes that although Hamilton can suddenly make big improvements out of nowhere, if that doesn't happen, his career will be over...

Ralf Schumacher, working as a pundit for Germany's Sky Sport F1, doesn't understand the hysteria surrounding Hamilton. Seeing the test results, he especially feels it's a split personality state of what's happening in the media:

"You can't expect great things from him. Even in the most optimistic forecasts Hamilton is missing three or four tenths, but it is true that at this stage it is not a tragedy. Maybe he still has to get used to the car, to the new situation, something like that... What is happening now is equivalent to an earthquake, everyone is looking at him as a messiah. He is a seven-time world champion who of course changed teams because he wants to fight for the world title again. Theoretically he can do it, but I am absolutely sure that it will not happen in his first year. I think that anyone who expects this from him is living in a dream world. Meanwhile, if Charles Leclerc is constantly better than him and stays at this level, then it is obvious that the end has come for Lewis Hamilton, he has already passed his peak. And we all know that in Scuderia Ferrari they are not very patient with ineffective drivers... So in the end Ferrari could be the team that bury Lewis' career. All this could also be true the other way round, if Lewis Hamilton beats Charles Leclerc. But I see little chance of that," Ralf Schumacher mused.
