Things are moving quickly in Austin, as a few hours after the sprint race, qualifying for the US Grand Prix took place, won by Lando Norris.
In Q1, Max Verstappen, Lando Norris and Sergio Perez dominated the first fast lap. However, after a few minutes Charles Leclerc, Pierre Gasly and Carlos Sainz took the lead, and eventually Verstappen, Leclerc and the returning Liam Lawson completed the top three in Q1. Among those eliminated was Lewis Hamilton, who was a big surprise, as were two Williams cars and a Stake Alfa Romeo.
In Q2 Norris, Verstappen and Piastri showed the direction, eventually Verstappen, Sainz and Norris made it to the top three. The track condition was constantly improving and the competition was getting tougher, in this phase of qualifying the US Grand Prix practically looked like a three-man race. For the two VISA RB, Lance Stroll, Esteban Ocon and Nico Hülkenberg there was no more continuation, they said goodbye to further competition.
Then came the decisive Q3, before which it was almost impossible to predict who would be the winner! As a result, at the end of the first runs the order was Norris, Verstappen, Sainz, but the time difference between the leading duo was almost imperceptible. Verstappen started the last fast lap sensationally, but was unable to translate his pace into a result, because qualifying was "interrupted" due to George Russell's accident.
All this meant that Lando Norris took pole position ahead of Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz!
