Max Verstappen, despite his weekend defeat, really likes what Oscar Piastri is doing and how he is doing it. Maybe he sees a bit of himself in this story.
McLaren has clearly entered the fight for the individual world title this year, but while everyone would expect it from Lando Norris, it is possible that an unexpected third will end up on the podium. The current champion Max Verstappen sees and knows this, and with extraordinary honesty, without any psychological games, he spoke - one can already tell - about his main rival:
"Oscar is doing great. Many people tend to forget, but it's worth remembering: 2024 is only his second season, 2025 his third, and yet he is very strong. When he has to, he is calm, and when he has to, he achieves great results, he makes almost no mistakes. This is exactly what you have to do if your goal is to be champion!"
Mark Webber certainly helps him a lot and that's a great thing. You can learn the most from your own career, he passes these experiences on to Oscar, my father did the same with me. And Oscar Piastri is a good student, he learns his lesson, he does the job! Talented, smart and not afraid to use his skills. Nice to see that!" - said Max Verstappen sportingly.
